fragments, treasures, memory...

A dust trail from a speeding car miles away from where I live.
I was at the top of a pebble encrusted hill seeing this for the first time.

It was beautiful to watch.

I could see for miles from up there, and I wanted to see more.
I was feeling beautiful.
I connected with memory that made me feel good.

where exactly was I?

I was excited to see more and this is what I found...

fragments, treasures, memory
I was at the tip.
Yep just to one side of me a little more than a good walk was land allocated for dumping rubbish.
Our leftovers..

Rubbish reflects...

seasons,

lifestyles,

economy,

ocassions,

needs.

It's all there.

A little bit of all of us and I sincerely mean all of us.

How come we feel separate
when we aren't separate?

What's in a name?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet."

I have several and
I answer to them all.

The name Robyn was given to me by my Italian Grandmother at birth.
Soon after my mother called me by another name of her choosing which most of my family soon adopted, though not all… they chose another name and most of my friends have chosen others for me too.
Confused? Well don’t be as it’s just the Australian way and possibly the way of others too.
We shorten, flip and add to just about any word available to us.

The reason I’m mentioning all of this is that I have decided to no longer use one of my many nicknames, Ribbon as my signature here on this blog and to blog under my birth name Robyn.
Robyn is the name I use to introduce myself in my life beyond blogging and therefore I feel it only fitting to use it here too.

Hello my name is Robyn

before the storm at Cottesloe Beach...

Prior to the storm
this is what I wanted to share with you....

A few hours at Cottesloe Beach
enjoying an annual event

'Sculptures by the Sea'.

There were numerous sculptures to explore

and most appeared to be made from

recycled materials.

Many were large,

fascinating
and

beautiful...

There were a collection of thought provoking signs

and this is one of many that appealed to me...
It was a picture perfect day
for being at the beach amongst
a wonderful collection of creativity.

There were lots of good reasons
to look towards the sky too...

This is one of my favourites...
it was like a giant jewel or sea urchin.

I hope you have enjoyed this time at the beach.
I'll show you more again soon.

Stormy Weather...

Monday of this week Perth was hit by a violent storm. Fortunately nobody has been harmed, but there is widespread property damage.

I found the video below on youtube that gives you an indication of what we have just experienced. They're British accents and not Australian and why that is, I'm not exactly sure.

They also say that Perth has been without rain for weeks. I think that the truth is that we haven't had rain for months and it is said to be one of our hottest driest summers on record, hence the immense storm damage.

As a result of this storm there are a lot of us living without electricity.

I'm up to day three of camping at home with a couple of power points operating which is enabling me to use the computer for brief periods.

We're back to warm sunny days and it is as if the weather has never been anything but polite.

Many who experienced flooding will be delighted with the continuing warm weather to dry out their homes and businesses.

From my perspective the storm created magnificent skies and it was beautiful to watch. I was not afraid, just amazed.

Once the power supply is up and running I'll be over to visit with you.

It could be hours, days or next week.

be well xoxo

the Wisdom of Youth

a conversation in a hardware store.....

Guess what goes forever Mum?

I don't know what you mean?

What goes forever?

Do you mean what lasts forever? Probably nothing. I think eventually everything comes to an end, doesn't it?

Guess what goes forever?

I don't know, tell me.

Love and numbers never end.

Don't palm us off

"The food you are buying could be pushing Orangutans to extinction. Palm oil is found in about 40 percent of the food products on our shelves and its rampant cultivation is destroying the Orangutans habitat at an alarming rate."

I hope that you're able to make time to watch the below videos.

They're informative and entertaining.

Heaven versus Angels

Recently my 6 year old son shared with me
a school yard conversation about death.

Another child told him that when you die you go to heaven and my son argued this point saying that when you die you become an Angel.
I asked Ruben if he had any memory of being born. He promptly answered that he couldn’t remember it at all. I then went on to say that people also don’t remember dying.

Before there was any need to elaborate on this topic he turned to me with this reply.....

“What happens when you die is whatever you imagine it to be."

Do you have any thoughts on this subject?

What do you imagine?
