Cheeky Monkey Business...

I haven't been out and about much in the past week here in the blogging community.

I've been up to cheeky monkey business.

You need to.....

bee at the beach,

to see what I've been up to.

Along these shores is where I have been having my fun....

Taking photos to show you the beautiful shells that I've been seeing isn't my cheeky monkey business,

though it has been fun.

Do you see the beautiful heart?

Are these shells the same as your shores?

I couldn't resist but to take some small treasures home....

I think they're absolutely beautiful.

I rarely collect shells anymore as I believe that they are an integral part of the eco system and need to be where they are.....

but sometimes the cheeky monkey in me just can't resist.

.....But this is not my current cheeky monkey business.

Can you see the speck of sand?

I love this little family of shells.

I don't feel in the slightest bit guilty about collecting these little gems below...
Thanks to Lori they now shine like beacons for me.

click Sea Glass to see and read more about this recycled gift from nature and also enjoy your visit with the generous blogger who shares her collection and knowledge of this beautiful sea treasure.

I'm hoping to incorporate the collection of sea glass into my paper mache bowl making project that I've been tinkering with from time to time.

A beautiful elderly woman I recently met at the beach who was once a potter told me that she used sea glass in her work. I imagine this to be beautiful.

Mostly the sea glass that I've found in recent weeks is either amber or brown. I think that may be due to the beer swilling nation that I live in.

I rarely see the green glass pictured above.

So what's my cheeky monkey businees?
I've been out and about 'graffiti knitting' a variety of man made poles along the sea shore.

I hope to share more with you about this creative endeavour in the coming weeks.

I'm busy with knitting.
Thinking of you
best wishes always.....

QiGong

Yesterday evening I attended an introductory QiGong class which I found to be fascinating and beneficial.
My brief understanding to date of this practice is that it enables you to cultivate energy to heal yourself and others. It originates from China and has been around for centuries.
It is considered to be the mother and forerunner of Tai Chi.

I like the idea of doing all that is possible to take responsibility for your own health.

Next month I'm about to embark on a 6 week QiGong course and I will let you know what I think of it once I've attended a few lessons.
I am hoping that QiGong will compliment my daily practice of meditation.

Below is a video that I located on youtube that gives you an indication of QiGong.
My understanding is that there are variations of the practice depending on what the desired outcome is.

Here's hoping that in the not too distant future my energy for good health and happiness will benefit you.

Click QiGong if you would like to know more about this ancient art of healing.

best wishes

priceless moments

The below photograph is of a beautiful little girl I came to know almost ten years ago, for a short time. We met on a station in outback Australia.
Due to a natural disaster she was a long way from home and temporarily residing on the station along with family and other members of her community.
A station is what some of you may call a ranch.

I was there to help. I was working for an aboriginal health service and that's how I was privileged to meet this delightful little soul and others.

She was a regular early morning visitor to my kitchen to sit for a bite to eat and a cup of fruit juice. My partner Mike spent alot of time repairing her bike punctures. For a time she was a part of our daily life.

It was a brief relationship, but one I'll never choose to forget.

I've entered the photo of this beautiful little girl Virginia in the Canon Keepers Competition in the category, 'priceless expression'.

For those of you who reside in Australia or New Zealand the competition is open to you too.

Below is another photo that I have entered into the competition in the 'unexpected moment' category. It's a photo of my son a few years back in a kitchen we don't have anymore.

I busted him eating peanut butter straight from the jar.

Random photos taken at the beach

These random photos taken at the beach are what I would like to share with you before I delete them from my files.

I'm trying to sort my photo collection to make room for more.

This is a view from Sorrento beach looking south towards Scarborough, where I live.

Seagull on Sorrento beach.

Do you know what that is?

It's a whale and her calf.

We were surprised and excited to see these beautiful whales when driving along the coast road last June at North Beach, which is also south of Sorrento.
This year I'm looking out for them and with any luck I'll get a clear photo to share.

This is Trigg beach also looking towards Scarborough.

It's one of Perth's many popular swimming beaches and it's also a favourite of many surfers and fishermen.

When you leave here and walk a short distance north you'll find yourself here...

at the Benion street carpark, just above a popular dog beach that I like to frequent.

I did say that these photos are random.

...and now you are with me on the popular northern dog beach.

I like it here and it's where I find beautiful sea shells

It's also a popular spot for boogie board riders.

Back up the hill now heading north.....

North Beach.....

and a day coming to a close on North Beach...

Back to Triggs.....
& some of my favourtie beach snaps.

the end.....

Easily distracted...

Whilst I've been unable to use the computer on a regular basis this past week, due to frustrating technical problems, I have managed to distract myself in other ways.

Come for a walk with me to see how easily I'm distracted... especially from daily tasks.

I love to take photos of birds.

Last year when I was visiting Busselton, I bought a book about birds with the intention of learning their identities, but decided that it was distracting me from just simply watching and enjoying them.
They don't seem to mind that I don't know their given names.

I especially like to try and capture birds with their wings outstretched.

I happily snap away at these beautiful creatures almost everyday and unfortunately rarely getting a pleasing shot.
Apart from the numerous failures I very much enjoy trying to photograph them.

I like this one.

I have got into the habit of not leaving home for a walk without the digital camera. Once upon a time I never thought that I would swap to digital, but it does allow me to be snap happy.

This is just a car that I thought would be fun for a joy ride.
I did say that I was easily distracted.

Across from the car were some dogs waiting patiently at a bus stop outside a popular seaside cafe. I'm assuming that they weren't waiting for a bus as public transport in this city isn't the best.
Now back to birds...

Recently when I've been walking along here I've spotted some beautiful birds that I have rarely seen.
I managed to photograph one of them.
It's a beautiful small sea hawk.
I look out for them now whenever I'm out walking, but rarely do I see them and when I do I never seem to be able to capture them with my camera.
When I grow up I'm going to get a zoom lens!
on another note...
The below photograph is a hilltop view of my suburb.

I've had a fun time framing these photos online over at Picnik which is another wonderful distraction.

If you drive down here and turn right you're at my place near the sea.

Thank you for joining me on this walkabout.
For those of you who will be celebrating Mothers Day I wish you a joyful one.
To everyone else have a wonderful fun loving distracted weekend.
See you soon
best wishes
