Odds and Ends...more odd than ends

This morning I was looking through items that I have in my 'drafts' and decided to put some of these odds and ends together in one post that I hope you will enjoy.

Blogger just ate the bulk of this post!.....
i am trying very hard to be zen about this.... my original post is no where to be found
ooooh very frustrating
I don't have the time to recreate and source the links again, I've already deleted my drafts, but it has inspired me to add a little something else that I did not intend to do.

a poem has come to mind during my frustration with blogger, that I became aware of due to the one and only beautiful Renee.....

To live content with small means,
To seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion,
To be worthy, not respectable,
And wealthy, not rich,
To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly,
To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart,
To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely,
Await occasions, hurry never,
In a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious,
Grow up through the common; this is to be my symphony.

~~ by William Henry Channing ~~

and a video of an interview with the female artist SWOON
that I have intended to share for some time now

Wishing you a wonderful day filled with smiles and time for creative thoughts...
Thinking of you

PS... It is currently school holidays in my corner of the globe, which means that my time is occupied with my son enjoying all the fun of Spring.
I apologise for my absence from your blogs and I will be over to visit with you soon.

Sticker Fun, Beach, Spring & Knitting

As you can see I've been having a little bit of sticker fun. I couldn't resist these smiley face stickers that I came across in a local craft store. They're perfect fillers for the blank faces on the signs I see all along the coast.
Some might call me mad, but if this is the case it is a harmless beautiful madness that I enjoy.

Spring has sprung and our beaches are looking like some the best exotic locations in the world.
The water is crystal clear and very inviting.... perfect swimming weather for those who don't like to battle the waves.

Most of our suburban coastline is without reef, but I'm often drawn to these few rocky areas.

Not all our beaches are encrusted with shells, but there are a couple of little spots that you can be guaranteed to find a beautiful selection.
Fortunately for me not many people seem to frequent these areas, even though they are easily accessed and very close to our most popular beaches.
There's often things I find on the sand that let me know that others do go there too.
There are flowers everywhere along the beaches that I frequent, just waiting to be admired and they have been a favourite subject of mine in recent days.

I put down my knitting needles for a couple of weeks to attend to Spring pleasures and chores.
I'm also attempting to teach myself to crochet, which I hope to master at some stage. So far I've found it to be very frustrating, but I'm not giving up just yet.
I've picked up my knitting needles again as I've been struck by the urge for a graffiti knit. I have a little project brewing.
There were a few moments where I thought that maybe my knitting was coming to a close, but I now realise that I may take a break from time to time, but it is a long way from being over.
I've just become aware of another fellow 'graffiti knitter' in Cananda not Australia, by the name of Sue Sturdy.....
I became aware of this knitting sensation during a visit with violet sky

A wonderful idea shared created this.

You can view more photos of this colourful knitted creation over here

Have a wonderful day and
I hope you too can find time to play.

The Miniature Earth 2010 edition

I hope that you have 3 minutes to watch this very thought provoking, beautifully presented video that I became aware of when visiting Cambridge Lady

I know little to nothing about the producers and this is what they say on their website
"The text that originated The Miniature Earth was first published on May 29, 1990 with the title "State of the Village Report", written by Donella Meadows. Nowadays Sustainability Institute, through Donella's Foundation, carries on her ideas and projects. The text used here has been modified. The statistics have been updated based on specialized publications and mainly reports on the world's population provided by The UN, PRB and others."

Donella Meadows was an American environmental scientist, teacher and writer.

"If we could turn the population of the earth into a small community of 100 people, keeping
the same proportions we have today, it would be something like this...

61 Asians
12 Europeans
08 North Americans
05 South America and the Caribbean
13 Africans
01 Oceania
50 women
50 men

47 lives in urban area
12 are disabled
33 are Christian (Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, Anglicans and other Christians)
21 are Muslims
13 are Hindus
06 are Buddhists
01 Sikhs
01 Jews
11 are non-religious
11 practice other religions
03 Atheists

43 live without basic sanitation
18 live without an improved water source

20 people own 75% of the entire world income

14 are hungry or malnourished
12 can't read

Only 12 have a computer
Only 8 have an internet connection
01 adult, aged 15-49, has HIV/AIDS

The village spend US$1.24 trillion on military expenditures UN
and only US$ 100 billion on development aid
If you keep your food in a refrigerator
And your clothes in a closet

If you have a roof over your head
And have a bed to sleep in
You are richer than 75% of the entire world population
21 people live on US$ 1.25 per day or less
Appreciate what you have
And do your best for a better world"

enjoy your day

Spring is here in Perth

Spring is here and I've been having a bit of sticker fun, as you can see in the above photo, but more about that at a later date. Right now I want to share with you what I'm seeing when I'm out and about.
Flowers are blooming everywhere and the weeds are looking fabulous too.
It is a picture book beautiful time at the beach, but a bit too chilly for me to swim, though today was a glorious 24c.

I haven't picked up a knitting needle in days as I have been busy enjoying all the glory of Spring, which for me includes gardening and spring cleaning.
I can't help but feel happy and healthy during these gentle sunshine days.

Anyway take a quick stroll with me and I hope you enjoy the view.

Where ever you are in the world I hope you are enjoying the change of season.
Wishing you lots of fun and love.

Knitting by the sea... parkour & freerunning

I've had a very busy winter
and one that I've thoroughly enjoyed,
knitting by the sea.

Winter evenings spent knitting
have been relaxing and rewarding.

Not all of my knitting stays where I put it,
but it doesn't take the pleasure
away from me.

The process is very rewarding
and when the knitting brings pleasure to others it's all the more fun.

That's it for my winter knits alongside the sea for now, as it's no longer winter in my corner and I'm taking my knits elsewhere for spring.

I'm not the only one having a lot of fun.
Check out what these guys are doing in the video below...
and by the way I don't know why blogger won't let me post this video below my sentence and not all the way down there.

Amazing!
Wishing you a day filled with love and surprises...
