Imagine Peace Inspired By Iceland

This morning I was Inspired By Iceland a website devoted to promoting it's diversity and beauty.
Here I became aware of the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER located in Iceland and conceived by the 77 year old artist Yoko Ono.
The artwork was dedicated to John Lennon by Yoko Ono at its unveiling on October 9th 2007,
John Lennon’s 67th birthday.

On October 9th 2010, John Lennon's 70th birthday, Yoko Ono lit the tower again.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is currently lit from 9th October to 8th December from 2 hours after sunset.
I know that a lot of you will already know this, but there will be some like me who are reading this for the first time.

I like what Yoko has to say about the tower...

"I hope the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER will give light to the strong wishes of World Peace from all corners of the planet and give encouragement, inspiration and a sense of solidarity in a world now filled with fear and confusion. Let us come together to realise a peaceful world.

Love is our energy. Wisdom is our power.
It’s time to shed light to all corners of the world.
Enjoy the trip we make together."

The Story of Stuff presents...

The Story of Cosmetics...
This is very well done. I hadn't seen it before today and I think that it's well worth watching.
It's good to have these reminders from time to time to help ourselves be well and to think twice before buying this kind of stuff for others.
There are lots of lovely alternatives to this stuff.

Post -Sexist Society?

We're still living in a sexist society.

Advertising through the years reflects that sexist values remain deeply entrenched in our societies.

We do have the power to alter this.
Stop buying the useless products.

If we stop buying the useless products, not only will we improve a generations self esteem, we will also conserve water.

Think about it.

This is Fucked up...

This is Fucked up...

this being a very large sector of the food industry.

Sorry for the F word, but I need to get your attention as this topic is one that effects every living soul, animals included.

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to approach this topic here on my blog as it is something that I have thought to talk about with you for a long while.

What are you eating?

Our

eating

habits

have

an

impact

on

every

living

soul

on

this

planet

What you eat has

an impact on me

and in turn I on you

Eating is one of our most intimate daily rituals, yet most of us don't know the story of our food.... the what, where and who of it all.

I am aware of two very informative films that you can view if you are interested in knowing the story of your food, especially if you are American.

We are all at one time or another unintentionally supporting shocking industrial food processing habits by purchasing certain products for eating.

If you are a supporter of the fast food industry you unintentionally support the decline of our precious environment and cruelty to animals.
We need to take charge of our own health and can contribute to this by educating ourselves about the story of our food.

Please make time to view these trailers if you have not already seen them. Just a few minutes of your time could improve your health for a life.

Please consider what you are eating to help put an end to an industry that is unhealthy.

You can make a difference

If you are able to devote just $10 of your weekly grocery shopping budget towards purchasing organically grown food you can help improve the health of our world.

If these trailers have been of interest to you, here are their website links to learn more.

Thank you and
best wishes for the availability of healthy food for us all

Dot... a magical miniature animation

Recently I came across this wonderful, clever and magical little piece of animation upon my first visit with Elizabeth Creates

Elizabeth didn't create the video, it is an Aardman production, creating the world's smallest film using Nokia's CellScope, a super-portable microscope imaging device.
Give yourself a treat
take a minute,
turn on the volume and enjoy
Dot. The world's smallest stop-motion animation

around Our Home...part one

Just for the fun of it I thought I'd give you a little tour of our home, by snapping fragments from various rooms of the house.
By doing this, it also contributes to my profile which I think may be of interest to you and is a little source of entertainment too.
I hope you enjoy the tour..... it certainly is colourful.

Below are a couple of visitors that I think you will be delighted to see.

One very hungry caterpillar that has been eating his way through our mint...

And a feathered friend who flew in through an open rear door...

a very young and very beautiful Kookaburra...

I felt very lucky to have it inside for a short while until I could help it return to the outdoors.

I hope this was fun for you to have a little peek into the interior of our home. I'll share more again soon.
Thanks for stopping by...
best wishes... for welcome surprise visitors in your day.

A picture perfect day at Araluen

On a picture perfect Spring day we drove 35 kilometres south east of Perth to Araluen (an eastern states Aboriginal word meaning 'running waters', 'singing waters' or 'a place of lilies), to enjoy the 150 acres of Botanic parkland.
This is a magical place to be in Spring, where tulips and others meet the Australian bush.
I'm going to let the below numerous photos speak for themselves and I hope that you get a sense of the time that we spent in Araluen. I fell in love with this place and its perfume.

Mike rode back to Perth from here, as we had taken his bike in the car and Ruben and I stopped off at a roadside cafe for a traditional Devonshire tea.... well I had the tea and Ruben enjoyed an icecream sundae.
We were a little tired after our much loved day in the sun.

It's Saturday morning here in my corner of the globe and after I publish this post I'm off to the farmers market to buy my weekly fruit and vegetables. This week I'll be buying a little extra as I have my siblings and their adult children and partners joining us for a picnic in our backyard tomorrow. Here's hoping for a lovely weather day to compliment our intentions for a relaxing gathering.

Best wishes to all my readers for a weekend filled with fun and love
