Unfortuantely this isn't the case.
We are unable to know all the facts about what we are eating if we are living in the USA or here in Australia due to poor labeling regulations. Our food labels do not list genetically modified ingredients. We deserve to know.....
Millions against Monsanto.....

The Idiot Cycle - what you aren't being told about cancer
the French-Canadian documentary, suggests six major chemical companies are responsible for decades of cancer causing chemicals and pollution, while also developing cancer treatments and drugs. It also argues these companies own the most patents on genetically modified crops that have never been tested for long term health impacts like cancer.
I have managed to locate part one of the documentary for those of you who may be interested.
The video is a little slow to commence playing, but please be patient.

4 COMMENTS~THANK YOU:
I've shared Sophie's post on Facebook. I have heard nothing else from anybody else. Why is that? Are we too hip, too busy, too tied to our junk food to care?
many of us do know and are doing what we can each and every day.
and although my husband and i still work full time and can't practically grow all our own (although we do have a very small plot at our community garden), we do know who grows our food and luckily even where our meat(buffalo) comes from. but as i've said before, it's not easy for many people on a budget and without such rich resources and time that others have.
Rosaria...
Thank you for your interest.
Often we are too busy with our focus elsewhere and I guess that is what a lot of large organisations rely on, so they can go about what they want to do with little to no interference.
We can't be there for every concern, and I feel when it comes to food, water and shelter we should be able to trust our governments to take care of these basic needs, but unfortunately this isn't so.

I like it that you are so well informed in your neck of the woods. Like me and others, we are fortunate to be able to buy locally.... but I still don't know if I'm buying food grown from genetically modified seed....until they improve labeling of all food.
I agree that it is not easy for many people around the world to purchase fresh or quality food and therefore believe that food labeling needs to be improved, so no matter what your budget you can choose what you are eating.
As it stands at the moment no matter the budget we are not being told the full story of what is in our food.
It's more about profit than health.
The more of us who know this the more of us can help others.
Thank you for this Robyn...
I'd still be teaching virtually full time had I not had sudden medically complicated illness in 2007 - paying a newish mortgage on a small home I no longer have, painting and trying to be an artist in total exhaustion, too busy to be computer literate, blogging and certainly NOT doing homage to the seed and any research like that.
Turning 50 three years ago, ill, living at my mothers, broke, friends interstate ... it was a recipe for either going down into deep, deep gloom or pulling myself kicking and screaming into the future.
Stories of people who end up changing lanes and revving up their life's direction very often have loss/major loss behind it. I'm living extremely frugally, still at Mums, to keep doing this work. Last year I never worked harder , for so little income, but with so much passion... its a different kind of maths ... its very risky defying the age-old effort towards financial security for retirement.
There are so many ways to live on this planet - we think there's no choice till something goes so seriously topsy turvy ... we then learn things can and do change.
I wouldn't wish my path on anyone... even with the passion for what I do. Time for independent thought is not a given.... it has costs of many kinds... and is rarely funded. We know everyone on this planet is creative... but not everyone is going to be a serious writer, thinker, artist, activist whatever etc. The dedication required is not what most would wish to give... its often NOT a balanced life!
Thinking time is very expensive to self-fund. If I was focused fully on on the production of canvases and getting them sold I would have no time for thinking! I've done that at times in the past.. its a tread mill.... like any job.
All the time I am writing, researching, painting, blogging about seeds I am NOT keeping a garden. My mother, at 80, wants that to be her thing. Her commitment to the garden and such is what frees me to think and do this work.
All of us are needed for what we can bring ...
