On the eve of my fiftieth birthday our computer received a virus that put it out of operation for what felt like a long while. Many dollars later we have our data back and the computer is in working order once again.
So I'm fifty now and that's a beautiful thing. On the night of my birthday I celebrated under a full moon around an open fire in good company. My life is sweet and I'm returning to excellent health. I feel happy with myself and life in general. I owe a lot to my dear friend Tracy and my loving partner Michael who have played starring roles in my recovery and general well being. I still have a big fat, fortunately benign, tumour and I'm hoping with the help of Chinese medicine my body will reabsorb it.
I'm really happy about returning to painting, though it can be frustrating at times. I'm currently painting under the banner of 'love stories'. I'm trying to paint everyday, but it's not always possible. We have a large shed in our backyard, a joy of suburban living, that's used as a studio. It's heaven, though at times I'd like to be in a shared space to have the company of other creative souls.
These images of recent paintings don't really show their true self. I haven't quite mastered the art of capturing them with a camera.
For the first time in a long while I'm painting for myself with little to no regard for what others may think. It creates a feeling of freedom, something that is very important to me. In other words I'm trying not to think too much and just do.

That's about all that's happening in my corner at the moment. Though thoughts for Christmas are slowly creeping in. I do like Christmas.
Wishing you a beautiful day and thank you for visiting with me.

Robyn I am so glad you are doing well. I did not know you were not feeling well, I feel like I have been right out of sync. You sound like your in a wonderful space right now and love your creativity. Sending many happy thoughts your way. hugs to you.
So glad that your health is improving. I didn't mind 50 at all, 55 on the other hand was a bit of a shock to the system. Painting's good therapy I hear!
My darling Robyn,
I had no idea you had been diagnosed with such a scary sounding illness!! I'm so happy to know you're on your way to a speedy recovery, and your positive, solar approach is the key to making it even quicker.
You sound like you're in a wonderful moment, and I wish you embraces, love and light. And belated birthday wishes!!
I'm very fond of Christmas too...
Ciao

Robyn, so glad you are feeling better!!!!
Lovely work and I know what you mean about the freedom and taking photos of the paintings, I can relate on both counts. I have slowed down my painting as Christmas is coming and there are other things to attend to, things come in cycles :-). Love and hugsxoxo

I am so glad you're here again. And, I Soooooo needed this today. I'm putting off over and over a watercolor I wish to do for my niece Laura. It's of her new baby. And, I've drawn it, but continually find other things that need to be done rather than 'risk' putting watercolor to paper. It's my inner critique gone completely wild. I promise today, after reading your brave words, to get up to the studio and just do it. I love you!!!!
Robyn,
I LOVE your work - especially the one you lead your post with.
Happy birthday my friend. I was excited to turn 50 - not sure why - but I had this stirring inside me that told me good things were ahead. And it was correct. I love turnng any age - am privileged to have each and every year and herald them as milestones. I hope your landing into this next phase of your journey be soft and lead you to inspiring places. xxoo
I love the humour in your paintings! And your sweet self, robyn, which will be unchanged at any age. All we get are a few year rings, but they only make us stronger and wiser.
Thank you for your visit to my blog. Are you still knitting? I have started a little, with much help, and I thought of your lamp posts. Much love from Germany!
hi geli!
happy birthday again sweet robyn, your paintings look to be full of childlike exuberance, wonderful and very precious. and your back (almost) to good health, the best news ever.
turning 50 and regaining your health is a wonderful combination, and what better way to celebrate than by committing to your own creative process. i like what you said about painting for yourself and not worrying about others' reactions - such an important step for which i applaud you. i love this series of paintings, especially number 3 - just looking at them brings a sense of joy.
hugs,
amanda
What a wonderful way to spend your 50th......full moon, open fire and good company.....sounds perfect!
I am so pleased you feel turning 50 is a beautiful thing. From one who has already past that milestone I can assure you it is a wonderful decade to embrace.
Robyn I will be sending you loads of love and light to help rid you of that big fat benign tumour too.
Oh and I love your paintings, so colourful, vivid and happy.
Keep shining sweet friend.
Warmest hugs
