I sold two paintings yesterday evening. It feels nice to be rewarded and to feel appreciated... but I do find it exhausting dealing with the people who want to buy my work. I'm far more comfortable being behind the scenes.
I find it a little difficult to talk about my paintings for any length of time as they are personal and I guess I'm kind of private.... I know that's a contradiction, but I'm sure some of you know exactly what I mean.
Christmas is also happening in my corner. Our home is decorated and filled with the excitement of a little boy waiting for Santa to arrive. I'm disorganised this year, more so than any other and I don't exactly know why. It will happen, but I fear it's going to be a bit of mad rush to the end.
Catch you soon
Merry Christmas

22 COMMENTS~THANK YOU:
I love your new look blog! Congratulations on your paintings finding new homes - I'm sure they will be well-loved.
The beach looks perfect. I've a week booked at the beach after Christmas and the forecast is for rain, rain, rain.
Still, when do they ever get that right??!
It is a beautiful time of the year in Australia Robyn as your photos portray. We are so lucky living in this marvelous country. :-)
Great news about selling your paintings...you will have to find a manager to deal with your customers so you can stay behind the scenes.
Hope you have a relaxing, stressfree Christmas and enjoy more lazy days at the beach.
Warmest hugs

Robyn it looks so beautiful there, your new dog is a cutie, congratulations on selling your paintings, I think that is wonderful.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas. everything will get done, odd how it always seems to anyway. hugs to you.
you sold two paintings? robyn, that is wonderful! and i know what you mean about the awkwardness of it.
i love this post. it is a treat for me to see your world. i am so glad you are feeling better and in your special game of life.
merry christmas, robyn. with love

I have always wanted to know what a Jacaranda tree looks like and now I know! They're beautiful!!
There's so much about this post that I like: First, I am envious how close you live to the beach. Just envious.
Next, I love how you find the large and the small to share with us and the free flow of your images make me feel as if I am there with you.
The dog? YOUR dog? He seems to have settled in so fast and that's a true blessing for you.
But, but, but the part that I still after all this time knowing you, I still can't understand is that you celebrate Christmas during the Summer! I still can't imagine that. I have to say, I don't think I would swap that one small bit. Silly I know!
Love to you my far, but near, Friend.
Well your weather is clearly nicer than it is here on the East coast, I'm wearing a sweater! Love the shots and isn't it a shame that Jacaranda's flower for such a short time, they really mark the beginning of November. Ours has only just stopped so I guess it was a longer season than usual. Congratulations on the paintings. I have a friend who has similar trepidations and has just been 'commissioned' to do two portraits, she's terrified.
Great painting-congrats on the sales. Merry Christmas to you!
at first sight, I was puzzled, too, and I was standing in front of the actual rack:D thanks a lot for your comment!
Enjoy your days on the beach! It's pouring with rain here - but putting the Christmas decorations up has made me feel all festive! Wow - selling your paintings already - word gets around. All art is personal - and do get what you mean about not wanting to talk about it. It becomes all ego stuff - and you're not about that. All the same - your work will bring enjoyment to others - so it must be 'out there'. Love the jacaranda trees - have never seen one in NZ.
Wonderful photos, Sydney is a doll baby. I wish I was at the beach right now :-).
Congrats on the painting sales, I feel exactly like you, I just want to paint them and let others sell them :-).
Happy Happy Christmas dear Robyn.
Love and hugs, xoxo
Oh my, what a contrast to our stormy, wild weather - it looks like a slice of heaven where you are. I think I do understand a little of what you mean about selling your paintings, a very dear friend of mine has the same problem parting with her art, too. They are her babies, she is deeply invested in them, and doesn't feel comfortable discussing all her labour pains with strangers!
Merry Christmas to you too, dear lady, hpe it's a good one.
Congratulations on the sale of another painting. Hope you sell more before Xmas. Lovely and bright and cheery they are.
Beautiful bright days and a happy hound in your life too.
Congratulations, a softie guardian angel is coming your way.
Drop me a not to let me know where to send it and thankyou for your owrds, I actually loved what you said and it stuck in my mind for days.
love,
Denise
Heard about you from grrl+dog. love your blog and want to be there right now! I know exactly what you mean about the awkwardness of selling and talking about your work. I have some pieces at a local gallery and I can hardly stand to go in. I feel quite vulnerable about it. However... I know I need to do it. Maybe it gets easier over time? I do love your paintings. Great colors and so interesting.
A huge congratulations on selling the paintings. It must be a huge buzz.
It is amazing that there are jacarandas out at this time of year.
Hope you had a great time in Fremantle.
i have internet back, hooray!

I like seeing summer on the other side of the world - it reminds me that it will be making its way back around to me before I know it.
Merry Christmas, Dear Robyn. May the new year bring tidings of good health and wonderful, joyful days.
A very Happy Christmas to you ~ Eddie
